Beer: The Preferred Beverage of Physicists and Mathematicians
"It's beer puts the fizz into physicists." - Mark Denny
Halfway through the semester, I developed a habit of visiting Black Spruce Brewing Company for a pint and a pizza on Saturday to take a break from homework. One day, I was there for the start of the brewery tour and, on a whim, decided to partake. It was while listening to brewer Carey Fristoe talk about the volume, temperature, and pressure in the different brewing tanks that I realized how much physics affects brewing: This is thermodynamics! There's even more to brewing physics than just that. Yeast population, thermodynamics, and bubbles are all tasty examples of physics.
