Nature - Song Birds
Song birds are quite fascinating animals when it comes to how
they make such abstract noises to communicate with one
another. Song birds use a special organ called a syrinx that
allows them to channel air through two canals and blend
different tones together. Additionally, song birds are able to
articulate twice as fast as a regular animal with only a
single channel (like humans).
Aside from the syrinx, birds have an air sac which stores air for later use. It is also used to redirect air down different passages in the syrinx. The bronchus and trachea are two parts of the birds throat. The bronchus is an air junction that branches off the main air passage and the trachea is simply an extension to the bronchus which carries air in and out of the bird.
