Faraday Cage


The Faraday cage is an invention that maintained his namesake. Its application is to keep the occupant unharmed from static electric fields. Faraday cages take electrostatic charges and currents and distributes them around the exterior. This cancels out the charge that would be on the inside of the cage. This gif demonstrates why.




In this example, the box is the Faraday cage. The lines are the electric field. the electrons are the little balls.
So when the current is induced on the cage, the electrons move to one side causing the other side to have an equal positive charge.
This causes the inside to no longer have an electric field or current.
