Components of a surfboard:
The deck of a surfboard is the top of the surfboard where wax is applied. The nose of the board is the very tip of the board and the tail is the rear end of it. The rails are the edge of the board meeting where the nose, tail, deck and bottom meet. The stringer is the strip of material to strengthen the board and are made of wood that runs through the foam of the board.
Short board vs. Long board:
Long boards and short boards are two categories of surfboards. A long board is a board that is 9 feet in length, around 18 lbs, contains more volume and more planing surface compared to a short board. A short board measures up to the height of the surfer, has less volume, less mass, around 6 lbs, and less planing surface to a long board. Though these two boards vary in differences in mass, length, volume, and etc. they both have the same density.
