A solar flare is not really a part of the Sun. Instead they
are massive eruptions of heat and material from the surface of the sun.
These flares contain the power equal to that of billions of megatons of
TNT in shear explosive power. They come
in several types that indicate how large they truly are. The
X-Class is largest followed by the m-Class which is followed by the
M-Class.

The last feature of the Sun that will be covered is Solar
Wind. These winds are really super heated gases that can not be
contained
by the Corona and the Sun's gravity. The wind leaves the Sun at
about 400 km/s and always travels away from the Sun.
The winds take about 4 days to reach Earth and are the reason that we
get the Northern Lights in the night sky.
