The first Apollo mission to make a lap around the moon was Apollo
VIII. It left the launch pad
on December 21, 1968. The crew did 10 orbits around the moon
before coming back to Earth.
After the Success of Apollo XI 6 more missions were launched with
the purpose of landing on the Moon.
All but one made it. Apollo XIII, called the "Successful Failure"
was the only Apollo
Mission after XI success that didn't make its goals.
