Leavitt Awards
and Honors
A crater on the moon is
named after Henrietta Swan Leavitt: "Leavitt"
crater. (Anderson)
In 1962 Swedish mathematician
Mittag-Leffler considered nominating her for the
1926 Nobel Prize in Physics. Sadly she had died
4 years prior and was not able to be included in
the pool of Nobel laureates.
- "Leavitt was a member of Phi Betta Kappa, The
American Association of University Women, The
American Astronomical and Astrophysical Society
(now the American Astronomical Society), the
American Association for the Advancement
of Science and an honorary member of the
American Association of Variable Star Observers"
(Byers).
