Lightning Rod
Bibliography
Over Benjamin Franklin's lifetime, he invented many different things including a more efficient wood stove, a smaller user-friendly armonica, bifocal glasses and the all famous lightning rod.

-The wood stove Ben Franklin invented was called the Franklin Stove. He created it because other stoves in that day cause too much smoke and didn't produce as much heat as they could with the amount of wood used. The Franklin Stove allowed air to circulate more freely. It had an air box to allow the air to reach the flame more easily and a hood to collect the smoke.

-A armonica was an instrument made from glass which replicated the sound made by playing water filled wine glasses. Franklin made the machine by using blown glass to the size needed to create specific tunes. The glass was rotated using a foot pedal.

-As Franklin grew older, he needed two different pairs of eyeglasses to see close as well as far. He got tired of always changing his frames so he invented bifocals that allowed him to see up close as well as far away. He did this by placing the lens for viewing up close on the bottom and placing the lens for viewing farther away on the top.

- Benjamin Franklin's most popular invention is most likely the lightning rod. Pictured below is believed to be an original lightning rod created by Franklin himself. The next page will describe the importance of the lightning rod.
