Center of mass for a lifter is a very important concept. It will determine whether or not the lifter completes the lift or fails. To properly lift weight without injury the weight should remain over the lifters center of mass.

If the weight sways away from the center of mass then the lifter becomes unstable and must drop the weight or the strain from correction could result in injury. The closer the weight is to the center of mass the easier the lift is and the less effort is required from the lifters muscles. This enables them to add more weight and improve the specific muscles the power clean works.
