Parallel Universes

Although this section will be very short, I thought it deserved its own page. DC Comics always conveys parallel universes in their comic series. Just as in the game
Injustice: Gods Among Us, Superman turns bad in a parallel universe where Lois Lane was killed by the Joker. Is it possible to actually have parallel universes? The
answer to this question is one that particularly strikes me in a deep way. The answer is essentially yes. I say essentially because String Theory predicts parallel and other
universes, but it is only a theory and pure mathematics. In order for this theory to be accepted there must be experimental evidence, but as you can imagine, it is almost impossible to test.
So in theory it is highly possible that there are parallel universes just like in the many games and comics of the DC universe. However, this is not the only reason why parallel universes are really
meaningful to me. The parallel universe theory means that every decision I didn't make is another parallel universe. So in this universe I became a physics major and love comics, but in another universe
I might have been a painter and hated comics! It also means that physics in the universe could also be drastically different!

Parallel universes are so important to be because it symbolizes endless possibilities. Not only would it be true for all the scenarios I said above, but the parallel universe theory
says that every game I've ever played and any comic I've ever read has a small chance of being truly real. There is a possibility, no matter how small, that Superman is really and truly
alive in another universe. And that means more to me than anything! So even though I wont ever be able to live out my dreams in the DC or Mass Effect universes it's the thought that counts.

In Star Trek, one of my favorite characters Data tells his daughter Lal about his struggle to be human:

"I have asked myself that many times, as I have struggled to be more human. Until I realized, it is the struggle itself that is most important. We must strive to be more than we are, Lal.
It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards."

It is the struggle to want to live our dreams in the amazing universes of DC and Mass Effect that make me who I am. I became a physics major is to get closer to
achieving these dreams and even though I wont ever get to the DC universe, I have no doubt that the struggle will have its own rewards.

Thanks DC Comics again for your work in bringing hope and dreams to millions around the world.
