Along with tracks, vertical or radial lift, and extra lift capacity, high-flow is one of the biggest choices that you must make when buying a skid steer. There is a huge selection of attachments that are available for a machine like this, however many of them require a lot of power to run. Sometimes a normal-flow is not enough to run these attachments at the speed that is desired.

High-flow gives people a very good option because it will add a component to the skid steer that will make it go from a hard working machine to a powerhouse machine capable of anything. Attachments such as snow blowers use hydraulic flow through the attachment to spin or move working parts, and most of the time these parts are supposed to be spinning at high speeds. In many cases, a normal-flow system will not be able to supply the required flow through the system.

A high flow system is important because it will have a mass flow rate that is significantly higher than that of the normal-flow, which implies a couple of key aspects. High-flow means that there will be at least twice as much fluid moving through the pipes which will remain the same size. This is a key factor because it will increase the flow speed of the fluid, meaning that it can spin the components of the attachment much faster. The second advantage is that because you have a bigger motor pushing the hydraulic fluid meaning that there is more force pushing the hydraulic fluid, and the attachment will be able to exert more force on whatever object it is working on.

According to quickattach.com, high flow systems on a skid steer loader have the ability to double the flow rate of hydraulic fluid. This flow rate is measured in gallons per minutes, and a normal flow rate system is between 8 and 23 gallons/minute, depending on the size of engine you decide to get. Now, a high-flow system has flow rates that range from 20-45 gallons/minute, also depending on the size of engine you decide to get. A high-flow system has a great deal of extra power for all those intense jobs you need to blast through.

Summary:

High-flow is a great way to maximize the amount of work that you can do. It gives your skid steer loader the added power to get through tough jobs in less time, and do so without putting as much stress on your new piece of equipment.
