I had a hard time figuring out something that could be relatable and applicable to everyone in class, and that has a decent visual appeal to go with the project, I finally came up with my topic of the Aurora.
Going to college in Fairbanks has many perks, one of which is the ability to see the aurora. If you’ve ever gone outside of the city lights on a clear night you might have seen the aurora dancing in the sky. I personally try to go to view the aurora whenever the KP is higher than usual (around 4 and higher), the KP is a way of measuring the strength of the aurora. The aurora isn’t just pretty lights, there’s a bit of science behind the elusive aurora I will talk a little bit about the shape, science, and location of the aurora.
