Born January 4, 1643, in Woolsthorpe, Sir Isaac Newton had anything but a happy childhood. At the age of three Newton's mother gave Newton to his grandmother so that his mother could start a new family. Newton grew up without any attention from his mother. The lack of attention and mistreatment during his childhood may have lead to Newton's curious character and anger issues. At the age of eleven Newton's mother returned only to take him out of school and attempt to make him a farmer as it was his "birthright". Newton failed at his birthright career, thankfully for the world, and returned back to King's School in Gratham and prepared to enter Trinity College of Cambridge.
At Cambridge, Newton kept to himself and studied Rene Descartes "Geometrie" privately. The professors at Cambridge were apparently unimpressed by Newton. He was antisocial and when reviewed by a professor on Euclids "Elements" the professor found that his knowledge on this subject was not very great. In reality Newton was studying the much more difficult theories of Descartes. If he had deemed "Elements" important enough for his time Newton would have no doubt mastered it. After a four years at Cambridge Newton graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with no honors or distinction and left Cambridge for his hometown, due to the plague. It's the study that Newton did back home that would lead him to becoming one of the most influential scientists of all time.
