Since the dawn of computer technology, one of humanity's great aspirations has been to effectively emulate our physical reality, both to examine what has happened as well as predict what could happen. The applications of this growing ability of ours are countless: computer simulation models can be used to predict natural disasters or equipment malfunction, in engineering and development, among many other things. One application that has continuously driven the computer simulation field forward is video games. Gaming is one of the most universally popular applications of computer physics simulation in our world today, and it has been a major driving force in the enhancement of realtime simulation of physics on computer platforms.
