A Brief Introduction
Everything can be related to physics in one way or another. The
purpose of this site is to relate the basic physics involved in
Petroleum Engineering. This includes techniques, fundamental equations,
and a general overview of the petroleum industry.
The petroleum industry is divided into three main disciplines:
upstream, midstream, and downstream.
Upstream:
focuses on everything below the surface of the Earth, primarily
exploration and production.
Midstream: involves
transporting
the
crude
oil.
(Hydrocarbon
in
it's
simplest
form:
methane)
Downstream:
includes
refining
and
marketing
the
petroleum.
