Open Loop Systems:
Open loop systems are just one of the options when it comes to the
utilization of geothermal energy for residential heating and cooling as
well as full scale energy production. Open loop systems use water from
either a surface or underground source. They generally consist of two
wells drilled to a depth that are capable of administering the proper
amount of heat needed for the system to function at its full potential.

When using an open loop system to supply your project with geothermal
energy you must make sure that the supply well and the return well are
positioned far enough away from each other to ensure that thermal
recharge takes place other wise your system will not function properly.
