One of the major advantages with the directional drilling is the pure fact that the tubing not only can run along the length of the reservoir, but can run in any direction of the reservoir. In other words, it enables the most possible amount of surface area of the tubing to be exposed directly to the hydrocarbons being produced. This is a huge advantage for the petroleum industry!
