Here is an example!
Your body uses the chemical energy of food to move, and the kinetic energy from moving is transferred to the paddle, it contacts the ball which gains gravitational energy as it rises higher above the table. That energy is changed back into kinetic as the ball falls and lastly, the system is constantly loosing energy because of friction which is converted to heat. If we could bottle up the the whole of the system food and all we will find that no energy was ever lost.

When one hits a ping pong ball what happens to all that Energy?
    It changes! Energy cannot be created or destroyed it just changes phases. Its a fundamental law!
