Beirut, also known as 'Beer Pong' is one of the most popular drinking games among college students today."The origin of the name "Beirut" is unclear. The ancestry of the name has been tied to Bucknell University and Lehigh University around the time of the Lebanese Civil War (Beirut is "of course" the capital of Lebanon)"(1).
According to Wikipedia there are two stories of where Beirut originated from. About twenty years ago the game became popular into society and caught the eyes of many.
"In the 1950's frat guys at Dartmouth (or possibly Lehigh) took table tennis to the next logical level by combining beer drinking with the game that originated with upper-class Brits in the 1880's"(1). This is when a fraternity at Lehigh University created the game after all ping pong paddles were broken for regular Beer Pong.
