Lasers effect everyday life all around the world yet are not fully understood by a large portion of the population. Despite their futuristic aura, lasers were invented decades ago and are simple in design. Lasers are used in many common products such as CD players and printers, and on highly complex machinery such as laser fusion reactors.

This page is designed to provide the basic understanding of how lasers work, general information on lasers, and current and future laser applications.
