What is a Fourier Series

\begin{displaymath}F_n(x) = a_0 + \sum_{k= 1}^{k=n} \Big(a_k\cos(kx) + b_k\sin(kx)\Big).\end{displaymath}

            A Fourier Series is a mathematical method to convert a function in a trigonometric series. The general idea is that a function can be closely described as a summation of sine and cosine waves of different frequencies and amplitudes. The nice thing about Fourier series is that even when evaluated to a fairly small nth value they still for very close approximations. More about the math and application of these series can be found in the other sections.
