The Law of Attraction

You've probably heard someone say "he/she is attractive". This saying is true in the physical sense as well. This saying is embodied in Isaac Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation which states that "every particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers".

Where:

  • F is the force of attraction between the two objects / particles
  • m1 is the mass of the first object / particle
  • m2 is the mass of the second object / particle
  • r is the distance between the centers of mass of the two objects / particles
  • G is the gravitational constant which is approximately 6.674 x 10^-11
