WWII was a catastrophically far-reaching conflict that in many ways put a halt on the ability of scientists belonging to the major powers to do technological research and development at their own discretion.  Instead they worked on projects that were vital to or offered some benefit to the war effort.  Because of this, WWII was almost like a second industrial revolution; with an amazing array of new technological innovations including computers, radar, sonar, television, nuclear energy, and jet-powered aircraft.  Ballistic Rockets, the precursor to space travel, also appear on the list.  Few people are aware that the man who led the design of the Saturn V rocket that put Neil Armstrong on the moon was also the man who designed the infamous German V-2 rocket-powered warheads. Today we take a closer look at Wernher Von Braun’s contributions to physics.
