Recognition

einstein recognitionAlbert Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 "for
his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery
of the photoelectric effect."
9  As Professor Arhennius stated during
the ceremony: "There is probably no physicist living today whose
name has become so widely known as that of Albert Einstein."  That
statement still rings true today, more than 90 years later.

His accomplishments are so vast, it's difficult to narrow down.
He received countless other awards over the years, and numerous
honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine, and philosophy
from various European and American Universities.

Einstein's famous formula, E=mc2, is now a common phrase in
everyday conversation.  People that know nothing about physics
usually at least know something about Albert Einstein.  Somehow
over time, Einstein has made physics "cool" and exciting to people.
The name "Einstein" is now used as a synonym for "genius".  He has
been portrayed in films, music, and novels.  Above all, Albert Einstein
has been an inspiration to so many people, from so many
different backgrounds.  His name lives on in history.
