Electronics by far have benefited most already from carbon nanotube technology. Nanotube-based transistors, capable of digital switching using a single electron, have already been made operable at room temperature. IBM researchers have demonstrated a method of growing nanotube transistors in bulk, similar to the silicon wafers already is wide-spread use. Single-chip wafers with over ten billion correctly aligned nanotube junctions have been created, and incorrectly aligned tubes can even be removed using preexisting standard equipment used in silicon transistor printing already. A fully integrated nanotube memory circuit has already been made in 2004.
