Background Info: With the introduction of modernized music and instruments, the cello has decreased in relative popularity. Despite this, there are still die hard classical music fans as well as mandatory music classes that allow it to have its own niche in the musical world. The cello is also used in modernized music as well, though not often. For the people that can tell the difference between a cello and a violin- kudos for you-this is for you people, a surprisingly small population.
