What is Ballistics?

Ballistics is the study of the flight of a projectile inside a firearm.

The term 'ballistics' is used by firearm experts to define all the different aspects of the internal workings of a firearm. Everything from the internal gases and pressure, to bore rifling and bullet velocity. Ballistics is a very wide subject. My main focus when looking at internal ballistics for this project will be the differences in gun caliber, the effects of bore rifling on a bullet, the causes of recoil, and how all of these processes are related to basic physics concepts.
