Efficiency

Picture
The Carnot efficiency is the theoretical maximum efficiency any heat engine can operate between two temperatures
The Stirling engine is a closed cycle with a permanently gaseous working fluid. They have a high efficiency compared to combustion engines. They can reach up to 50% efficiency.

They are also capable of quiet operation and can use almost any heat source.

Ways to increase efficiency

Their a multitude of ways to build sterling engines and each one has a different amount of efficiency. A lot comes down to the design and materials it is made of. Their are designs that allow the engine to run off just the heat from your hand.
