What lies in the future?

The Hyperloop:
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla motors and SpaceX and chairman of SolarCity, has brought forth a variant of the maglev train called a hyperloop. It is a slightly different idea because instead of an open track the levitating pod would be housed within a vacuum sealed tube that would get propelled by electromagnets in the tube. The reason Musk wants to develop this technology is the move away from planes and ramp up the speed of train travel even further as evidenced that the hyperloop can theoretically achieve speeds of 700mph, which would make a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a mere 35 minutes.

The applications of EDS and EMS:
With an ever growing population innovation and technology must keep up. We cannot hope to service everyone with planes as they require massive amounts of fuel, a resource which is steadily being eaten up. EDS and EMS systems propose a good solution for short and intermediate travel plans. These trains have flexible routes available for construction, can move up to 375mph (the average plane speed is 550mph). The trains also do not output harmful emissions and therefore are a sounder option for the environmentalist.
If we continue investing in this technology we may achieve things like the hyperloop which would cover long distances both reliably and quickly.
