Recipe:

1 Cup cornstarch

1-2 Cups water

Food coloring if desired

In a bowl, add your cornstarch. Slowly pour in 1 cup of water. Mix together with your fingers until you have reached a consistency that will act like the Non-Newtonian fluid described. Add more water if necessary. If your Oobleck is too watery, just let it sit for a while. The cornstarch will eventually settle to the bottom. Take a napkin or paper towel and dab it on the top of your cornstarch+water mixture and it will soak up some of the excess water. Mix together again. Add several drops of desired food coloring. Once you have reached the desired consistency, pour a bit of it out onto a flat surface. You will see that it pours out as a liquid. Now the fun begins!

Take a finger and try to run it through the “pool” of Oobleck. You will see that it crumbles. You can break it into solid pieces and it will quickly change into a liquid.

Have fun!
