A simple, though outdated
light bulb with a rating of 100 watts, runs on one
hundred joules of energy per second.
If such a light bulb used
333,400 joules of energy it would run for 3334
seconds.
The equivalent of 55min 34s of run
time.
Doesn't seem like a
terribly long time to run a light but it may take more
energy than you'd think.
Keep in mind this does
not imply that a liter water that was frozen will melt
under a light bulb after an hour, the energy used by
the light produces both light and heat and this energy
is conducted and radiated in every direction.
