The Doppler Effect

How Relative Motion Affects Wave Frequency
The Doppler Effect is something that we deal with on a daily basis while hardly noticing its presence.  It has also allowed us to make large steps towards understanding the beginning of our universe and answer a large number of astronomical questions.  It is what allows a radar gun to accurately measure the speed of a moving object.  The Doppler Effect also causes shifts in the color of light, though this is essentially unnoticeable in everyday life.
