David x. Cohen (left) and Matt
Groening (right) are the creators of "Futurama."
Futurama is a science-fiction comedy that aired on Fox in 2000. The creators of the show include Matt Groening (the creator of “The Simpsons”) and David X. Cohen. The television show itself makes multiple references to 20th century culture (Madison Cube Garden, parallels between racial discrimination and robot discrimination, etc.) and it’s ripe with science fiction references. While most of the references are made for the sake of comedy, if you were to pay attention carefully, there are several interesting physics concepts that may be based on probable situations.
The purpose of this site is to show
whether or not some of the episodes have any relevance to
the real world. While this website does not feature any
clips about the show (due to copyright issues), the main
reason to explore Futurama is see if such a science
fiction comedy is capable of presenting realistic science
problems. If this cartoon is capable to presenting real
science problems, then that’s all the more reason to
explore its concepts; if not, then it’s essential to know
why not. Let's get started!
