Experiment

You can make your own experiment to see how the Magnus effect works with different objects.
  1. find something to use for a ramp. It should be relatively smooth.
  2. find a ball like a tennis ball and also make a cylinder with paper.
  3. roll each of the objects down the ramp.
You should be able to see the affect the best on the cylinder made of paper. the paper should move in the direction of the spin it wasThe paper is lighter so with the low velocity the affect of the air is greater on the paper.
