If the day comes and we achieve quantum supremacy (the moment when a quantum computer does something a classical computer can’t) how much will our lives change? It’s possible a quantum computer could break our current method of encryption with little effort, and because of this we might need to find new ways of encrypting our data. Looking toward a more positive use, quantum computers could help us understand much more about us and the universe we reside in. What I mean is, we can run simulations at a much higher scale, a scale that classical computers just can’t handle. Now if you’re wondering if you’ll be playing Call of Duty whatever number they’ll be on, more than likely that’ll be a no.
