What is a Supernova?

A super nova is a massive explosion of a
star. When a white dwarf siphons fuel from a nearby star
resulting in a runaway nuclear reaction occurring until the
star is blown apart. Supernovae may also occur when a star
become a Red-Supergiant eventually becoming so large it
exhausts all of its fuel causing it to be unable to support
its massive gravitation, collapsing in and blowing off its
          outer shells.
