 Physics Portrayed In Art

There are several instances where the science of physics influenced the arts. Focusing on painted art there are different
styles and the art itself inspired by the science.

Type of Styles and The Inspired:

1) One could claim that Modern day art including abstract is a direct result. As Robert Eskridge described it as, "Science and art naturally overlap. Both are a means of investigation. Both involve ideas, theories and hypotheses that are tested in places where mind and hand come together-laboratory and studio." (Eskridge, 2003) And in most of these modern art pieces are inspired by quantum physics, that is the physics of particles and their movements; however, this theory is often challenged. For as Frederick Turner argues,

"The problem is the very clear difference between the microcosmic quantum level of reality and our everyday microcosmic level of classical physics, which is where living organisms and paintbrushes and artists dwell."(Turner, 2012).

        2) The second style is that of Cubism. "Cubists connected their work most eplicitly with the fourth dimension...".(Crease, viewed 2016). But using Einstein's theory is very influential for a famous cubist painter, Picasso. "The parallels between (Einstein and Picasso) during their period of greatest creativity-the first decade and a half of the twentieth century-shows us much more than the common points of their own thinking. They also offer glimpses into...their common frontier of art and science."(Miller, 2001).
