Coupling
Coupling is an interaction between multiple vibrating elements. When you play a guitar, the strings are plucked by your fingers, causing them to vibrate. These vibrating strings then go on to vibrate the bridge, which will continue to vibrate the soundboard, as well as the internal air cavity.
Although all the pitches can be created simply by moving your finger along the fret, it turns out that the processes of creating those sounds are different. In order to produce low-frequency sounds, the internal air cavity and the sound hole are the important factors.

On the other hand, to create high-frequency sounds, it is the string interaction with the bridge and the soundboard that drives the process.
