    As the quote implies this is one of the reasons that guitar does not play a note forever and also why it

the strings do not stop immediately after being struck, they must use their restoring force, density of the

air and sound to expel the energy before they stop (out side of a vacuum). This is also the reason that

The strings are able to be anchored to the body of the guitar. As Physicsclassroom.com put it, "A force

is a push and pull that acts upon an object . . ." In this case it would be the normal force against the

tension force acting on the string's anchor.
