"For
every action [force] there is and equal and opposite reaction
[force]."
~I. Newton
As the quote implies this is one of the reasons that guitar does
not play a note forever and also why it
the strings do not stop immediately after being struck, they
must use their restoring force, density of the
air and sound to expel the energy before they stop (out side of
a vacuum). This is also the reason that
The strings are able to be anchored to the body of the guitar.
As Physicsclassroom.com put it, "A force
is a push and pull that acts upon an object . . ." In this case
it would be the normal force against the
tension force acting on the string's anchor.
