While watching basketball, an average fan notices
many aspects of the game, however, the physics of basketball is
rarely thought of. Players themselves usually do not even
consider physics while playing. It would be somewhat
impractical for a player to stop, measure his distance from the
basket, calculate the most optical angle, and then shoot the
ball. Regardless of the view the fans and players take on
basketball, to view basketball under the the guidelines of physics
can be very interesting and can help coaches understand why they
teach players certain ways of doing things.
