Ice hockey started in the mid-1800s in Canada. Rule
were written, and the National Hockey League was formed
in 1917 in Canada. Between the start of the NHL and 1967,
there were only six teams that were apart of the NHL that
are still around today. Since then, the league has expanded
to 30 teams. Ice hockey is a popular sport today, as it is the
most popular sport in Canada, and the fifth most popular
sport in the United States.
