How Its Done
To gain adequate understanding of how the traditional tool was
used, the modern game of Eskimo Yo-Yo, was the traditional
practicing device before the actual hunt.

Vertical Position

- A. Hold Eskimo Yo-Yo in the middle of
the string and two masses. Then reposition the masses so that
one mass is hanging below the other mass without contact.
- B. Hold one of two equal masses in the
your free hand.
- C. Gently begin swinging the hanging
ball in a vertical circular motion, by moving the handle
vertically up and down to maintain circulation.
- D. Allow moving mass to be near a
constant velocity.
- E. Position opposite hand with mass at a
90 degree angle from gravitational rest and release the mass
when the rotating mass is approximately pi radians or (180)
degrees of the positioned mass.

Horizontal Position
(below head)

- A. Hold Eskimo Yo-Yo as shown in the
previous steps above.
- B. Repeat all previous steps, however
you will be rotating the mass in a different direction,
- IE: [ FORWARD <-> BACKWARD] or
[LEFT<->RIGHT]
- C. As done before, throw the mass in the
opposite direction.
- D. Start horizontal movements of handle
and try to maintain a constant speed if possible.

Horizontal Position (above
head)
- A.Exactly the same as listed above, but
in a change in the (z-position) given we are standing up on a
horizontal ( 0 degree surface, parallel to the forces of
gravity).
- B. I believe this final practice is the
most critical practicing form of this because this technique
was traditionally used to catch birds.
