The Eskimo Yo-Yo is now used as a game
for children and adults, but it was originally developed based
off of real world traditional and cultural hunting practices.
Before the modern skin and rope used to make the game apparatus, it was made as a Bola for harvesting birds or caribou, reindeer, moose..(etc.)
This was used across all of the
Eskimo tribes, such as Inupiat, Yupik, and the Siberian
Eskimo's.
As successful as this was for catching
an animal it was also used as a training tool for children who
prepare to become the providers of their tribes.
On the next page, we will discuss how
to use the Eskimo Yo-Yo, and how simple it is to create a
replica model and attempt this yourself while in the comfort
of your home.
