Notices from Peace Corps Peace Corps Welcomes Older Adult Volunteers Peace Corps Seeks Environment and Agriculture Volunteers Peace Corps Applicants Can Qualify Without a Four-Year Degree Local Recruiting Activities The Northern Alaska Peace Corps Friends usually host a community presentation when the Peace Corps recruiters from Seattle are in town during the job fair at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. 2003 The Northern Alaska Peace Corps Friends were involved in Peace Corps recruiting activities twice in 2003; once in March, and then again in September and November. November 12, 2003: Northern Alaska Peace Corps Friends participated for Seattle Peace Corps in a recruiting event at the first ever fall Career and Internship Fair. The booth was in the foyer of Wood Center right by the front stairs and received much attention. Seven applications were signed out and 4 stopped by to discuss their current on-line application. Stan Justice helped haul the boxes in during a heavy snow storm and also assisted in the reloading. Carolyn was joined by Trevor White, Marcella Hill and Linda Pearson at the table. Chan received a fax of those names of persons picking up applications. September 30, 2003: Seattle Peace Corps recruiters Kirsten and Chan Slide presented a slide show & question/answer session at the Noel Wien Library, hosted by the NAPCFs. September 29, 2003: Kirsten and Chan presented a slide show & question/answer session at the UAF Wood Center - Conference Room C-D in the evening. September 29-30, 2003: Seattle Peace Corps Recruiter Kirsten returned to Fairbanks with recruiter Chan. They manned the information table at University of Alaska - Fairbanks, Wood Center. March 27, 2003: Tim and Kirsten showed slides of the Dominican Republic and Gabon to interested students on the UAF campus and later participated in the UAF Career Fair that week. March 26, 2003: Seattle Peace Corps Office RPCVs Tim Micek and Kirsten Franklin were introduced in a community presentation about Peace Corps in the Noel Wien Library. Guy Sattley who was a volunteer in India in the late 1960's, Derek Chambers who was a volunteer in Kenya in the late 1980's and Larry Flemming who was a volunteer in Gabon in the late 1990's gave slide presentations which highlighted the similarities and differences of the Peace Corps Experience over the past 35 years. 2002 March 27, 2002: Peace Corps recruiters were in town March 27-28. There was a slide show for general public about Peace Corps at the Noel Wein library. Local RPCVs presented slides. Speakers: Derek Chambers RPCV Kenya; Tracy Townsend RPCV Malaysia; Francis McLaughlin RPCV Guatemala; Tom Zimmer RPCV Mauritania and Mali. 2001 March 5, 2001: Dr. Dan Karr, RPCV Nepal presented "Return to Nepal - 30 years later, with additional work in Malawi" at the Noel Wein Library.
