History of Touchscreen
The idea of touchscreen had emerged and been studied academically around 1960’s. The very first articles about this invention and its applications were published in late 60’s in UK. It’s first appearance was around 1975 by PLATO computer-assisted-education project carried out by University of Illinois. Since then, touchscreens got further studied and developed extensively as to come into prominence as in ATMs, PDA /Personal Digital Assistant/. To elaborate, one of the first touchscreen computer was HP-150 in 1983 and one of the first cellular phones was IBM Simon in 1993. However, due to the high cost of touchscreen in 1990’s, it didn’t become commercially successful in video games and personal devices until very recently.
