Thomas Young was born on June 13th, 1773.  He was raised in a Quaker family in Somerset, England with his nine other siblings.  He grew up in a very educational environment, having a fairly good grasp on Greek, Latin, French, Italian, Hebrew, Chaldean, Syriac, Samaritan, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Amharic by the age of fourteen.  He began studying medicine and became a licensed physician, but soon moved to Physics and received his doctorate in that field.  After being a professor at the Royal Institution for two years, he resigned fearing that his teaching would get in the way of his medical practice.  He was also the foreign secretary of the Royal Society and a physician at St. George's Hospital.  On May 10, 1829, Young passed away in London, England
