Magnets are used for a very wide variety of objects and purposes. The most familiar use of magnets are the kind that are stuck onto the refrigerator or other metal surface to hold up notes, pictures and anything else. Besides a nice way to hold objects, magnets are very practical.

Magnets are used in household appliances such as refrigerator doors to keep the help enforce the insulation.

Magnets are used in the medical world by MRI's. This magnetic is an electromagnet that can be turned on and off and can also change the direction and shape of field lines.

Magnets have a long history for being used to heal people. They are said to help with poor circulation by attracting blood. They also help in the quick healings of cuts and infections, due to the same reason. Current studies are being conducted to see if this is true.

Many electromagnets are used in electronics such as speakers, monitors, and televisions. These, as expected, also use electromagnets by using a series of coils and wires to get the desired result by creating electric motors and generators.

High Powered electromagnets are used in the high-speed Maglev trains in Asia . The magnets allow the train to hover about the track.

Magnets are used in junk yards and factories to move large materials and to sort items that are magnetic and not magnetic.

Some animals and insects have a magnetic sense of direction and use a system of magnets to help in their migration patterns.
