-The Broom Physics
The “broom” is the one tool that a curling team has to control their rocks after they have been thrown. The broom started out as being a typical household broom, but now they have developed special brooms deseigned into a broom shape with a special pad on the end that is used to do the sweeping.

The idea of the broom is to “sweep” in front of the rock when they want it to travel faster. When a person sweeps in front of the rock, as it is moving, they are creating a lot of friction right in front of the rock. This makes the ice melt to a certain degree, making the rock slide more frictionless over the ice, on the melted water. This is a big part of the strategy of the game. If people do not sweep in crucial moments, the rock might not make it to a target.
