-The Physics behind Curling

-The sport of Curling

Curling has much to offer the curious physics student. First you have the most obvious representative of physics in the “rock” that performs the action of “curling”. This has to do with friction and melting of ice. The next form of physics is from the act of the brooms. This is probably the most comedic part of curling. Brooms are used to “sweep” in front of the rock as a part of strategy. They “sweeping” can be pretty entertaining from the intensity of the action.

These two parts of curling make up the main points of physics involving the sport. To become a good curler, you need to understand these concepts. For those who want to become a great curler continue on to the next sections to further your knowledge of physics.
