For international rifle competition, guns must be equipped with iron aperture sights and any sort of magnification is prohibited.

For a competitor aiming to hit a dot the size of a pinhead from 50 meters, simple iron sights must be incredibly precise and all parts must be consistently aligned for each shot to meet its mark.
